Grief is Like a Motorcycle

You grip the handlebars with everything you have,

racing through roads you never chose,
paths lined with memories that hit like sudden turns.

Curves toss you into the past.
Bumps slam into your chest with echoes of love.
The engine sputters as a memory cuts through.

No one can ride it for you.
No one can slow the speed or soften the turns.

And still, you keep going.
Leaning into every curve,
feeling the wind sweep through
the ghosts of what was,
bearing the weight of love, loss, and memory.

The ride is raw.
It is terrifying.
It is relentless.

And it is proof of your strength,
proof that even as grief steers you through the past,
you are still moving forward.

Grief is Like a Donut offers gentle support for those navigating the heartache of loss. Beautifully illustrated and poetic, this book uses metaphors, and images to reflect the confusion, numbness, and unexpected pockets of sweetness that grief can bring.

Perfect for times when focus is difficult, each metaphor is independent, so the book can be read a little at a time and in any order. It is a companion for moments when you need to pause, reflect, or simply feel understood.

Rather than trying to define grief, this book illuminates the many ways loss shows up in our bodies, minds, and lives, offering comfort, validation, and the sense of being seen.
